Improved Google Search in Labs

Media_http4bpblogspot_cdtrq

Gmail Labs now offers a bunch of Google's most popular search features, including:

* Dictionary definitions: use a keyword like "define" in English and you'll see the first definition of the word, with a link to the dictionary from which it came.

* Spelling corrections: if you mistype something in your search, Google’s spell checking software will automatically ask if you meant a more common spelling of that word (especially helpful when looking up a new word).

* Calculations: type in an arithmetic expression and you'll get the result. In this case the "Paste result" option from the result's pop-up menu will actually paste the result of the computation.

* Local results: you can search for a particular place or for things near a particular place (map results will show up in a few weeks — they're a little broken by our recent switch to use https). The "More info" link will take you to the place page.

* Weather: just type "weather" followed by the city and state, zip code, or city and country.

* News: if your query matches something in the news, we'll show you one hit and an indication of how many related articles there are, with a link to go see them.

In addition, you can now use this Labs feature in any available Gmail language and you'll get search results that match your preferred language.

Finally, as some folks have already noticed, I added a search button to the toolbar when you're composing a message:

If you've got text selected when you click it, Gmail will search for that text. If you don't have text selected, you'll just get a search box where you can start typing.

QT Lite Frees You from QuickTime's Bloat - QuickTime - Lifehacker

Media_httpcachegawkercomassetsimages17200910500xqtlitejpg_qhaizzjzzneqmix

If you don't use iTunes (or any other Apple software), you can finally rid yourself of Apple's Software Update bloat by replacing QuickTime with QT Lite. QT Lite installs only what is necessary to play QuickTime files and nothing more. It still has all the same settings and preferences as the normal version of QuickTime, though.

QT Lite is very similar to QuickTime Alternative. The only difference is that QuickTime Alternative also installs Windows Media Player Classic, so it should also work as a QuickTime replacement if you want to install iTunes without the QuickTime bloat.

QT Lite is a free download, Windows only.

Translate your website with Google, Reach global audience

Media_http1bpblogspotcom7zyqyi4xigksspk6chwjqiaaaaaaaaeqqftxo3kn58ws400t1png_jfxksfnwcscpglk

Google has announced a new website translator gadget powered by Google Translate that enables you to make your site's content available in 51 languages. Now, when people visit your page, if their language (as determined by their browser settings) is different than the language of your page, they'll be prompted to automatically translate the page into their own language. If the visitor's language is the same as the language of your page, no translation banner will appear.

After clicking the Translate button, the automatic translations are shown directly on your page.

It's easy to install — all you have to do is cut and paste a short snippet into your webpage to increase the global reach of your blog or website.

Interesting Uses of Camera Mobile Phones To Stay Productive

Some creative and productive uses of camera mobile phones

Car Parking – Most shopping malls here have huge underground parking but there aren’t any signboards so it gets tough to locate the car. So when you park the car, just look towards the escalator (or the exit door) and take a picture or record some video. This will save lot of effort (and time) when you return with all those heavy shopping bags.
